In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(16)H(13)NO(3)S, the benzisothia-zole group is almost planar (r.m.s. deviation for all non-H atoms excluding the two O atoms bonded to S = 0.009 Å). In the title compound, C(15)H(10)ClNO(4)S, the benzothia-zole ring system is essentially planar [maximum deviation = 0.0382 (13) Å for the N atom] and forms a dihedral angle of 74.43 (6)° with the chloro-substituted benzene ring.
